I found the main culprit was actually the Asio output dll in Media Monkey, causing clicks. A shame, since it’s a decent unit. Other settings are unchanged. You might want to think about purchasing a sound card which is compatible.. Usually, Windows operating systems apply a generic audio driver that allows computers to recognize the sound card component and make use of its basic functions.

I have tried to disable and re-enable the card with the Device Manager, sometimes it works, sometimes not. So there’s still a life for the DMX visat W7.

However, I would love to use the card in my older computer which I plan to upgrade to W7, so it’s nice to know that it can be made to work. Did this solve your problem? I’m also trying to run a dmx 6fire under windows 7. Sound settings in W7: I suppose that I will eventually have to switch back to XP, or buy a new card. My latency is 5. Some clicks and pops but I’ll try out Jean Francois’ advice and see what happens.

Thanks everyone for the help. If I remember correctly, you have to follow some specific steps to update the DMX drivers, too? I had some crazy problems with the dmx6fire in vista. I know vita lot of forum users are using Vista with little problem but I bet anything that most serious home studios still feel it is a little early yet. I know I can throw tantrums and threaten to sue them and hope they will give me an old copy of XP, but I am not rich and do not know a laywer.

So I am currently using the vista drivers and am wanting to know if there is something I can do to fix it when windows boots up? I didn’t even know there was a 5. I am hoping that the next patch will address my issues, so I should be looking at a new system with Sonar 7.

How satisfied are you with this response? Given that the DMX does not have the most modern and recent AD converters, I would not cry forever if I am forced to upgrade this as well.

I am not the world’s greates techie and I do not intend to pretend I know all the terms – so I would appreciate some help. Could be an IRQ conflict. Switching back to the Wave output solved that.
